Superman se las vio al fin cara a cara con Helspont, un daemonita con deseos de dominar la Tierra y que había elegido al Hombre de Acero para que le ayudara en su conquista. La negativa de Superman a colaborar con Helspont desembocó en una batalla cuerpo a cuerpo entre los dos, tras la cual Helspont desapareció sin dejar rastro. Superman regresó entonces a Metropolis, donde su vida como Clark Kent tampoco estaba en su mejor momento después de haber dejado plantada a Lucy (la hermana de Lois) y a Jimmy.
